It’s the start of a new week – share notice of my IndieGoGo campaign and have your name entered for prizes! Three winners drawn every Wednesday.

Visit the project page to share via Twitter, FB, Google + or to send an instant email message: www.indiegogo.com/Form-Felt-Lab

IndieGogo doesn’t track who shares, so you’ll have to visit the Form Felt Lab Facebook page and ‘like’ or ‘share’ this same post to be entered: www.facebook.com/formfeltlab

The winners of last week’s draw, randomly selected from the group of people who shared notice of the IndieGoGo campaign, are: Maggie Shirley Artist, Angela Bourne and Christine Kohl. Thank-you for sharing! Each of you will receive a set of postcards featuring images from ‘The Sound of Silence’ installation!

Great news this morning: received the outcome of the Market Assessment! It’s official – we’re going ahead with prototyping and manufacturing a studio model of the Form Felting Machine for Designer/Feltmakers!

An interview with Sam Van Schie of the Nelson Star, revisits the Form Felt Lab story and tells about the company’s efforts to raise funds for prototyping through on-line crowd-sourcing project at IndieGoGo.com.

Loxam-Kohl immerses herself in her work.

Form Felt Lab launches IndieGoGo on-line crowd-funding project to support commercialization of a studio-model for professional Designer/Feltmakers.

Read the story behind the invention, peruse the limited-edition felted-wool perks created for the project, make a contribution if you’re inspired to, and spread the word!

Be sure to share with the fibre artists and professional Designer/Felt-makers in your life. This technology has the potential to expand their creative and productive outputs and improve their quality of life. Help me get it into their hands.

I am offering a two-day intensive on felting wool in-the-round at Oxygen Art Centre on Sat/Sun, March 26/27 from 10am-4pm.

This workshop introduces methods for creating simple 3-D forms directly from wool batting, without the need for additional processes. The workshop will focus on basic techniques for felting three-dimensional forms by hand, and the making and use of specialized and improvised tools. Using the 3-D felting techniques, participants will be able to felt simple forms that can be applied in the making of hats, handbags, basket-like containers, toys, and other items.

A slide show, samples of suitable objects and felted pieces will be shown in the first session. This workshop is an intermediate-level course. Prior felting experience is recommended.

Instructor: Deborah Loxam-Kohl
Cost: $120 + HST; $20 materials fee paid to instructor
Location: Oxygen Art Centre at #3, 320 Vernon St (alley entrance)

Register through Kootenay School of the Arts at 250.352.2821.
